Exosomes for Skin Rejuvenation & Hair

A personalised approach to facial skin quality and hair thinning at HS Advanced Aesthetics, Harborne, Birmingham. Explore exosome-based treatment options alongside microneedling, RF microneedling and, where the exact product is suitable, mesogun-assisted mesotherapy.

Your consultation will cover realistic goals, the preparation proposed, available evidence and the method best suited to your skin or scalp.

UNDERSTANDING EXOSOMES

Small messengers. Developing science.

Exosomes are tiny extracellular vesicles released by cells. They carry molecules involved in communication between cells and are being studied for their potential roles in skin repair and hair biology.

Products marketed as exosomes vary in their source, composition and quality. Some contain different types of vesicles or additional ingredients. Evidence for one preparation cannot be assumed to apply to another. Product selection, suitability and the intended route of use must be confirmed before treatment.

Skin rejuvenation

Early clinical studies of selected preparations used alongside microneedling have reported improvements in hydration, texture, elasticity and fine lines. These findings are promising, but studies remain small and long-term evidence is limited. Results depend on the preparation, procedure and individual skin response.

Hair growth & scalp regeneration

Exosome-containing preparations are being investigated for selected forms of hair thinning. Treatment aims may include supporting the scalp environment and improving hair density, thickness or quality. Early clinical findings are encouraging, but studies are limited and results depend on the diagnosis, preparation and treatment plan.

Regrowth is not guaranteed, and treatment cannot be assumed to create new follicles or reverse every form of hair loss.

FACIAL SKIN & SCALP DELIVERY METHODS

Mesogun, microneedling or RF microneedling?

Your clinician will assess skin condition, sensitivity, pigmentation risk and treatment goals. The product and device instructions must support the proposed use; topical application, use on treated skin and injection are different routes.

Microneedling

Fine needles create controlled micro-injuries in the skin. Selected topical preparations have been studied in combination with microneedling for skin rejuvenation. A product suitable for this use must be selected; an ordinary cosmetic serum should not be assumed suitable for freshly needled skin.

RF microneedling

RF microneedling combines fine needles with radiofrequency energy to create a controlled thermal effect within the skin. Research has explored selected topical vesicle preparations alongside this procedure. Suitability depends on the device, product and individual assessment; added benefit is still being studied.

Mesogun-assisted mesotherapy

A mesogun is a delivery device used for small, superficial mesotherapy injections. It may be considered for facial skin or scalp treatment only when the exact preparation is suitable for injection and the proposed use is supported by its regulatory status and product instructions.

A topical-only exosome serum must not be injected. Your clinician will explain whether a mesogun approach is appropriate or whether microneedling or RF microneedling with a suitable topical preparation is the better option.

SCALP & HAIR

Start with the cause of hair thinning

A scalp assessment comes first. Pattern hair loss, shedding, inflammation and scarring conditions need different approaches. We will discuss whether further investigation or established treatment is more appropriate before considering an exosome-based plan.

Scalp microneedling

Scalp microneedling is being studied with selected topical preparations as a way to support hair growth in suitable patients. A plan may involve a course of sessions and progress photographs. The preparation, intervals and realistic expectations should be agreed at consultation.

Scalp RF microneedling

RF microneedling has also been investigated with selected topical exosome-containing preparations for thinning hair. Evidence is early and product-specific. Treatment settings, scalp suitability and risks require individual assessment; outcomes cannot be promised.

Hair changes take time to assess. Your review plan should consider hair density, shedding and the underlying diagnosis, rather than relying on an immediate result.

Patient photographs after two treatments

These three scalp comparisons show patient examples after two Exosomes treatments, as recorded by the clinic. They illustrate individual experiences and do not predict another person’s outcome. Lighting, angle, styling and follow-up timing can affect the appearance of comparisons.

What can I expect?

Facial skin: treatment may be discussed for concerns such as dullness, uneven texture, fine lines and reduced skin quality. Studies of selected preparations alongside needling have reported improvements, but the benefit of a particular product or combination cannot be assumed.

Hair and scalp: progress is assessed over time using your diagnosis, shedding history and comparable photographs. Your clinician will agree session spacing and review points rather than promise a fixed result after two visits.

Recovery: redness, warmth, tenderness, swelling or pinpoint bleeding may follow treatment. RF microneedling also carries thermal risks. Preparation and aftercare will be tailored to the treatment used.

Numers of sessions needed: 5 sessions, 1 every 2-4 weeks apart followed by 6th session at 12th to complete the course. Personalised topical treatments will be recommended based on client medical history.

Maintenance: every 12 months.
