What Is Aqualyx?
What is Aqualyx and what happens during treatment?
- Aqualyx is an injectable compound made from the deoxycholate family of acids and essentially it absorbs the fat and you pass it out through the kidneys naturally.
- The acids present in Aqualyx cause fat destruction in the body. Plastic surgeons use Aqualyx for body contouring.
- When injected into the body, Aqualyx can reduce the appearance of fat to give a smoother, more contoured appearance. While a person will see changes after one treatment, they’ll usually require more than one treatment session to see maximum results.
- During the treatment, a series of tiny injections are performed with a special fine needle. It takes around 30 minutes to an hour to perform the procedure.
Mechanism of action:
After Aqualyx is injected into the area to be treated, it attaches itself to the fat cells and dissolves them. The fat is then naturally expelled from the body over the coming weeks through the lymphatic system.
Duration of Action and treatment:
- It can take anywhere between 4 to 6 treatments to see good results.
- Overall, we do recommend 6 treatments. We normally review how the client is progressing after each treatment and then make a decision at that stage of how many further treatments are required.

Anyone in the age of 18-60 can have the treatment as long as they are medically fit. following are the most common areas where treatment is given:

- Chin.
- Hips.
- thighs.
- Calves.
- Under the age of 18.
- Allergy to aqualyx.
- Lung, Liver, Kidney or any Neuromuscular disorders.
- Pregnancy.
- Breast feeding.
- Local area infection.
- Concurrent antibiotics use..
- Anticoagulants use.
- Clotting disorders.
- Lipodystrophy.
Side effects:
Post Procedure Dos and Don'ts:
- Localised tenderness.
- Swelling
- Bruising
- Bloating
- infection
- Dizziness or faint
- Itching
- Allergic reaction.
(Next 24-48 hours)
- Take Analgesia if needed.
- Rehydrate well (Dizziness can happen)
- Wear pressure garments.
- Avoid strenuous exercise.
- Avoid alcohol.
- Avoid hot bath/showers/Saunas.
- Avoid smoking.
- Avoid Heat and sun.
- Do persistent circular massage daily for 2 weeks.
- Rarely swelling of injection site remain for months.

- If the skin becomes hot, red, swollen and tender.
- Discoloured skin.
- Severe pain or bruising.
