What Is Botox?
Botulinum toxin is neurotoxin, Made by Clostridium bacteria.
It works by blocking a neurotransmitter at the junction of nurse and muscle, causing a temporary paralysis of muscle, where it is injected.
Botulinum toxin has a very long history in medical field but used in ancient and modern times as biological warfare in toxic doses.
It’s aesthetic use involve administration of very small doses prescribed according to person specification.
Mechanism of action:
But In aesthetics, doses used only cause a temporary paralysis of 1-2cm of a superficial muscle where it is injected. Which prevents muscular contraction, thus alleviating the superficial skin lines. Hence creating the desired cosmetic effects.

Duration of Action:
It takes at least 2 weeks to take on full affects and last approximately 3 months.
In some areas, effects may last shorter or a bit longer, depending upon the site and activity of injected muscle.
Indications:
Contraindications:
- Frown lines.
- forehead lines.
- Crow’s feet
- Nasolabial lines.
- marionette lines.
- Smoker’s lines.
- Pebble chin.
- Under the age of 18.
- Allergy to Botox.
- Neuromuscular disorders (Eaton Lambert, Myasthenia gravis, MS, MND etc).
- Pregnancy.
- Breast feeding.
- Local area infection.
- Concurrent antibiotics use.
- Concurrent muscle relaxants use.
- Anticoagulants use.
- Clotting disorders.
- Chloroquine or Calcium Tx.
Side effects:
Post Procedure Dos and Don'ts:
- Temporary headache.
- Localised tenderness.
- Swelling
- Bruising
- infection
- Local muscle weakness and heaviness.
- Dry eyes or watering.
- Dry mouth.
- Drooping of eyelids.
- Twitching of muscle.
- Dizziness
- Blurred vision.
- Itching
- Allergic reaction.
- Remain upright for 3 hours afterwards.(next 24-48 hours)
- Avoid touching or rubbing the area.
- Use Aloe vera/Arnica Gel.
- Rehydrate well.
- Analgesia if needed.
- Avoid exercise.
- Avoid alcohol.
- Avoid hot bath/showers.
- Avoid smoking.
- Avoid sleeping on the face.
- Avoid Heat and sun.
- Avoid wearing tight hair/head bands.
2 Weeks review:
As every patient’s sensitivity is different to Botox injection given, your clinician will administer a safe and lower dose depending upon the depth of wrinkle, thinness of the skin, nutritional/hydrational status and age.
After 2-weeks review and consultation following steps will be taken.

- A free of charge top up treatment will be provided after the very first treatment if desired results are not achieved.
